How to zero your inbox and live happily ever after.
Are you often overwhelmed by an email inbox that always seems full of urgent matters to attend to?
If you receive thousands of emails every day like myself, then you need to read this excellent article. I thought I was coping by using inbox filters to move emails to various folders, yet there is always too many posts siting in my inbox. Every few months I spend a day or two attending to this problem, trying to address the most urgent emails and clearing out my inbox.
After reading this article, I am now managing much better.
It is written in plain English without any technical jargon and delivers first-class, usable and practical tips to keep your inbox clear.
The one idea to take home from this, is illustrated in the picture below...
Treat your inbox like an airport runway, i.e. keep it clear. Aircraft cannot park on the runway after landing, they must vacate the runway as soon as possible.
At the end of each day, your inbox should be empty, but that does not mean you simply delete everything. Instead, have some "action boxes" to move those messages that require action, then handle each box in order of urgency when you find the time.
