Facebook Hatred...

I thought I was the only one that hated Facebook and its endless inane applications...
Until I saw this video which embodies everything I hate about Facebook.

Catchy tune, pertinent words...
including the profanity which Facebook deserves!

BTW... here's a quick tip that I get asked about continuously.

How to download these videos to watch offline?
That begs the question, "why would you want to?"

To answer the second question first:
a) No jitter and stop/start of video stream.
b) Save to your hard drive to show visitors.
c) Save to a Flash Drive to carry around.
d) Save to a IPOD Video, PSP, Xbox or other multimedia player.

OK, how so save the video (using the above video as an example)

1)Click on the little Triangle in the lower-right corner of the video
2)Click on the little menu icon that open just above it
3)Click in the URL field then press Ctrl/C on your keyboard to past the URL to your clipboard (you will not actually see anything happen)

4)Open a new Brwser and go to: http://downthisvideo.com
(tip: type in ONLY "downthisvideo" without the quotes, then press Ctrl/Enter to add the rest of the address, i.e. http://www at the start and .com at the end)
5)Click in the video link field then press Ctrl/V on your keyboard to paste the URL which you copied in step (3). The address hould now appear here.
6) Click the DOWNLOAD button.

7)Right-click on the button labeled "Download FLV"
8)Click on SAVE LINK AS...
9)Change the name from "get_video" to a name you will recognise for this video, and make sure you end of with ".flv" (without the quotes. In this case, use "Facebook Anthem.flv"). Make sure you know where the video is saving to (I reccommend all new files to your desktop).
10) click Save.

Now you have the video.
If it does not play on your PC, then download any of the free FLV video players.
These are "Flash Video" files, as used on Youtube, Metacafe, and thousands of other websites.

I recommend FLV PLAYER from www.martijndevisser.com

Enjoy your downloaded videos!

Please comment with links to your favourite online videos.

  1. If you are using Mozilla's Firefox web browser, then get the DOWNLOAD HELPER Add-On which lets you download any videos from most websites.

  2. The Blog article is aimed at downloading Youtube type videos that are embedded in other websites.

If you are viewing a video on the Youtube website itself, then it is even easier...
For example, if you are on this video:
    www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIOfqsrrbaI&feature=related
Then just paste that webpage address in DOWNTHISVIDEO and follow the rest of the instructions on the main blog.
(TIP: you can delete the "&" and everything after it)
