The Big Five have been imortalised on our local currency but with inflation, carrying a wad of R200.00 notes does not buy much these days. I was wondering when we were going to see larger local currency notes and today I found a "preview" of a R500.00 note. See picture below. But a Zebra? FTW? I am guessing this is a hoax. Anyone have any reliable info on this? Why a R500.00 and not a R1000.00 note? It must be hoax... If you disagree, then prove me wrong. For real? A Zebra? No way! OK, it's probably a Qwagga and not a Zebra... but still...? So what's next? A R1000.00 with a Vlakvark? Followed by a R2000.00 with an Aardvark? Other countries use pictures of heads of state... so where is our Baboon banknote being launched? |  |
